Bio
Ryan Muirhead is an artist who uses photography to explore the complexity of the human being and the world around them. He spends his days capturing meaningful images with old analog cameras, holding a sincere belief in the power of art to help us understand ourselves, soothe emotional wounds, and bridge the divides between us. This conviction drives him to share his passion by teaching both the technical and artistic aspects of photography.
Speaking about his latest works, Muirhead explains that the images were not created with the intention of forming a cohesive body of work. Rather, they are moments he decided to unite because they share a common experience: interacting with people, objects, or concepts that confused or frightened him, and creating something he perceived as beautiful and sincere.
In 2019, he exhibited a selection of his shots in Ghost-Shaped People, his first solo show. The exhibited works are a selection spanning various moments and places between 2014 and 2018. He currently resides and works in Portland, Oregon.
