Bio

Dario Tironi was born in Bergamo in 1980. After graduating with a degree in sculpture in 2006 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, he participated in the formation of two associations active in promoting emerging artists and creating events in collaboration with other entities. He has won numerous international art awards and has established himself in the contemporary Italian sculpture scene.

For his artistic research, he draws inspiration from various aspects of daily life, primarily using plastic components, as well as other “wasted” elements that have intrinsic value and meaning, to perfectly reconstruct his human bodies in the midst of the consumerist era. His practice combines the themes of recycling and ecology with art, creating a narrative that starts from Duchamp's Ready-made and Dadaism, passing through Rauschenberg, Nouveau Réalisme, Arte Povera, up to Ha Schult's "Trash People" installations.

In his artistic practice, Dario Tironi uses a multitude of heterogeneous materials, often taken from everyday life. These are found objects and discarded materials, products of the “Plastic Era”: accessories, technological devices, toys and dolls, household appliances and ornaments, gadgets of all kinds, and mass-produced items that describe our cultural identity, our aesthetic tastes, but also our frivolous desires and optional needs. By using all these materials, the artist aims to denounce the contrasts in contemporary society, which has now embraced the logic of consumerism, generating incredible amounts of waste and pollution, while also dividing global society into inequalities created by its own economy. According to the artist, our existence is also shaped by what we consume and the objects we possess, which describe us, speak of us, our standard of living, our tastes, habits, and whether we have an ethic as consumers or if we are easily influenced by advertising and trends. “Objects can become status symbols, contemporary fetishes that describe entire generations.” Ultimately, there is always a will for rebirth from these ruins, through an extreme attempt to harmonize all the fragments to give life to new forms and meanings that lead us to question the sustainability of human actions.

He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including “Open 13,” Venice – “Human Constructions,” Priamar Fortress, Savona – “Impatto 2.0,” National Atestino Museum, Padua – “Monument to Mankind,” Piazza del Duomo, Pietrasanta – “Ho cercato l’armonia,” Vittoriale degli Italiani – “Superfuture,” MAD Museum, Singapore – “Figure furìturibili,” Luigi Cattaneo Collection, University of Bologna – “Contemporary Transformations,” Duke Contemporary, Bangkok – “Il dialogo dei contrapposti,” Royal Palace of Caserta – “Scrapart” Doha, Qatar – “Natura Umana,” Part Museum, Rimini – Vaf Prize, Kiel – “Valuable Scrap,” CSO Ankara.
